Become a Member
Becoming a member of Christchurch Toastmasters can offer a number of benefits. Below are a few examples:
By attending our weekly meetings, you can practice public speaking in front of a live audience and receive critical feedback. By doing this, your performance will rapidly improve.
Once signed up, you will be given access to the Pathways website. This is the official learning site of Toastmasters International. Here, you can learn new techniques and receive awards for your communication and leadership abilities.
Every member receives a monthly edition of the Toastmaster magazine, which offers a range of tips to help you become a more effective speaker. This resource alone is worth the cost of the membership!
Worldwide, there are over 360,000 members of Toastmasters International. Within New Zealand alone, there are nearly 5,000 members spread across 280 clubs. By attending meetings and local events, you will meet many like-minded people who will become good friends and mentors.
How much does it cost?
To join Christchurch Toastmasters there is an initial sign up fee of $90, which is used to register with Toastmasters International and covers the first month of membership. After this, there is also a reoccurring monthly fee of $25, which goes towards room hire, Toastmasters fees, social functions and club supplies. Most people prefer to set this up as an automatic payment.
Does this sound like a lot? Remember, Toastmasters is almost entirely run by volunteers. Because of this, there is no other public speaking program that can match the quality of Toastmasters at the same cost.
How can I join?
We recommend visiting the club 2 – 3 times before making the decision to join (or not join). This way, you will learn more about Toastmasters and be certain that it is right for you.
If you like what you see and want to be part of the fun, speak to one of the Club Officers.
