If you are a new member of Christchurch Toastmasters, the information below will help you get off to a good start!

Mentoring

As a new member, you will be given the opportunity to have a mentor. This person will help you understand Toastmasters and offer advice for early speaking roles. As a club, we encourage all members to have mentors – even those with more experience.

Pathways

Once registered with Toastmasters International, you will receive an email inviting you to log in to Pathways – our online training module. Here, you can complete speech projects and receive awards for your educational progress. 

There is a dozen learning paths to choose from. Once you have selected one, you can begin working on the first “Ice-breaker” project. This involves a 4 – 6 minute speech introducing yourself to the club. Does this sound scary? It may seem that way, but most members end up enjoying this experience and find the feedback to be valuable.

Easy Speak

Our weekly club meetings are organised using a website called Easy Speak. Here, you can confirm your attendance and accept speakings roles. To help us plan meetings effectively, we ask that you confirm your attendance 3 – 4 weeks in advance. 

Easy Speak is not connected to Toastmasters and requires separate log in details. The club VP Education will send you a username and temporary password soon after joining.
